In addition to being Sunrise Integration’s Director of Engineering, Eduardo is a passionate outdoorsman and avid backpacker. Having experienced adventures like a four-day hike through Rae Lakes Loop in Kings Canyon and a five-day trek up Mt Kilimanjaro accompanied by his family, he naturally feels strongly about promoting a healthy environment and protecting planet Earth. That’s why he’s chosen the Sierra Club Foundation as the next recipient of a donation under our Sunrise Gives program.
“I believe that climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing humanity this coming century,” says Eduardo. “The global warming that’s changing our climate has dire consequences that we are now starting to endure. Rising temperatures have worsened extreme weather events. Wildfire seasons are lasting months longer and longer. Coral reefs have been bleached of their colors. All these events are increasingly attributable to human consumption of fossil fuels and deforestation practices. Sierra Club Foundation aims to protect our natural wonders while seeking cleaner energies to slow climate change through their Beyond Coal and Our Wild America programs.”

Beyond Coal, a large ongoing campaign that connects organizers across the country in a shared clean energy vision, is responsible for the retirement of over 150,000 dirty megawatts of coal power and saving thousands of lives annually that would otherwise be lost to toxic pollutants. More than half of the coal plants in the United States are now either offline or slated for retirement because of the hardworking efforts of community organizers fighting for a cleaner, better future for their neighborhoods.
Our Wild America is a leader in supporting efforts to create and protect national parks and monuments. Through their campaigns, they aim to protect 30% of lands by 2030 to fight the climate and extinction crisis. Protecting wild places will keep drilling and logging from dumping pollution into the air, sequester emissions, provide protection from extreme weather, homes for wildlife, and opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors together.
