If you could enjoy discounted brews and spirits while supporting local charities, would you do it? Sounds like a no-brainer! As a new venture, Swig & Sport offers low-cost subscription memberships to do exactly that. They started off building a community of members and brewery and distillery partners in the Denver, Colorado area, but now they’ve set their sights on going nationwide. 

Swig & Sport first came to Sunrise Integration through Shopify with the idea to build a community of breweries and distilleries by offering patrons discounts on beer. The concept certainly isn’t a hard sell, but they needed an expert Shopify partner to bring their vision to life, as well as a team that understood the heart of Swig & Sport: building a thriving community and connecting people.

Out With the Old, in With the New

Swig & Sport already had a Shopify website with a brewery locator app, but the system wasn’t robust enough for them to grow and expand nationwide. There were many features on the website that were critical for their growth which needed to be built and customized for their needs.

Building a New Custom Website and Coupon Redemption Feature

First, our team had to define an ongoing roadmap. From there, we built a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to begin expanding from the initial capabilities they had on their old Shopify website towards a robust system capable of expanding nationally.

The MVP website needed to be designed and built using Shopify with the following features:

• Shopify Store Setup & Configuration

• Mobile Website Design

• Marketing Page Content with Promotional videos

• Subscribe as a Member 

• Recharge for subscriptions and Stripe for payment

• Manage Memberships via Recharge

• Store Locator App for Map Feature – Storeify

• Custom Developed Coupon Redemption System

• Business Intake Form – created with Storeify, displayed on the Shopify site and submissions are stored in the Storeify app.

• Newsletter Signup - Through Shopify

• Email Notifications – Shopify native  

Part of Swig & Sport’s mission is to support and promote local charities. For every membership purchased, a percentage of the fee will go to a local charity that either the member or participating venue chooses. To ensure that the process of getting these funds to the charities went smoothly, we added functionality to the checkout so customers can select which charity they want to support with their membership purchase. 

Ready for Nationwide Expansion 

So far 38 venues have signed up to be a part of the Swig & Sport community offering patrons discounts and deals on their brews! That number is growing steadily as they expand across the country. 

Members and partner venues absolutely love that they support their charity of choice. This initiative has been a huge hit so the Swig & Sport team will continue to build partnerships with charities and find more ways to give back.

Our team has an ongoing engagement with Swig & Sport to make updates, add new features, help with marketing efforts (e.g. events) and provide general maintenance and support as they continue to grow.
