On October 29th 2024, Shopify and Sunrise Integration co-hosted the "Tee Up for Retail Success" golf event at the luxurious Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego. This exclusive experience brought together retailers and industry professionals, blending golf with insights into Shopify's retail solutions. It wasn’t just about perfecting the swing—it was a day full of networking, learning, and strategic demos of Shopify's latest retail technology.
Our CTO, Dean, joined the event, embracing the golf clinic atmosphere with enthusiasm. Under the guidance of two PGA Class A professionals, Dean and the attendees honed their short game and full-swing skills. And while there were valuable lessons on the course, the real highlight of the day was connecting with retailers eager to explore Shopify's capabilities. Dean had the chance to discuss how Shopify’s POS system, including the innovative Tap to Pay solution, could support their growth. The day was filled with breakout sessions and Shopify POS demonstrations.
During the event, attendees were treated to a live demo of Shopify’s Tap to Pay POS system, which offers a great new way for retailers to handle payments. This solution allows businesses to process transactions directly from mobile devices without the need for additional hardware. Using any modern iPhone or Android phone, merchants can accept payments connected to their POS configuration. It adds an extra layer of checkout to any retail location. The demonstration impressed many of the retail prospects in attendance, especially those looking for ways to bridge their in-store and online experiences. Following the golf sessions, guests gathered for a private lunch at the Fairmont, where Shopify shared a preview of their Retail Roadmap for 2025. This brief presentation offered insights into upcoming features designed to help retailers optimize costs and stay competitive. Shopify’s focus on enhancing POS functionality and providing versatile, cost-effective solutions resonated with attendees, sparking engaging discussions on how they could implement these innovations.
Throughout the day, we connected with some incredible brands and industry leaders. Vendors such as Surje Coffee and KRS Comics were among those we met, showcasing their interest in Shopify's solutions and expanding the potential for future partnerships. These networking moments provided invaluable opportunities for both parties to share insights and explore how Shopify’s solutions could meet their unique needs.
